Easy work around to send invoices. Simply open up the invoice and select 'Save as PDF' from the File Menu and attach saved file to your personal email.

I think it is just a crude, but effective way of getting people to upgrade. There is no good technical reason. Intuit could easily have provided a way for you to enter an outgoing SMTP server so you could send emailed invoices directly from your PC. Also, in the 2006 version there was an occasional problem that meant that when one tried to send invoices it would sometimes hang while trying to contact a, presumably, unobtainable IP address. . The only way I found of clearing this was to close Quickbooks, reopen and send again. I was disappointed that this 'feature' has been carried over to the 2009 edition.

Does anyone know if this is an incompatibility because they changed the way they handle emailing the .pdf files or just a ploy to have users upgrade? My current workaround is printing it to my adobe converter and then emailing the file as an attachment.

So I contacted support via their Chat application to ask about upgrading to 2009. I was told that the 2009 version will not allow me to send invoices from QB, so I'd be paying $200 to have less features. I wish there was a way to link my mail client to QB 2006, so when I hit mail invoice it would fire up Thunderbird and send the PDF.

My QB stopped sending invoices yesterday, 6 days early. So I spent last night setting up a new process for sending out invoices and price quotes. Thanks Intuit, how robust is Freshbooks?

I don't remember excatly the model number. I bought the mic from Amazon and it was the frame that came up with 'other people are also buying' suggestions. It seems fine, but I expect that with this sort of inexpensive microphone it would be difficult to determine too much difference when using ancillary equipment.

You should try GotVmail or EasyOfficePhone.com. EasyOfficePhone has worked great for us, and they actually provide voip service with SIP phones!!! Check them out. I had 800PBX a while ago, but it was so bad that we left within 3 days.

I have the same issue with needing Virtual PBX with call recording. The service I use now is TollFreeMax.com

Sometimes I like them, sometimes I don't and recently I've been trying to find a replacement, one with better customer service and more reliable service overall. However I can't find another company that looks good that also offers call recording.

PROs
1) Can call 24/7 and get a representative who can usually help. The ones in the off hours are overseas, but during normal business hours, you will get an american.
2) Service is usually pretty reliable. Though today they had a server restart and my service was down for about 3 hours. This doesn't seem to happen very often.
3) They do Call Recording of incoming calls that are e-mailed to me. This is a really big deal for me, I can't imagine hiring someone to answer the phones for you and not wanting this feature, which astounds me that more providers don't offer it.
4) Price seems to be pretty good, but in this case better service is worth more money because I pay much more for my customers than for call minutes.

CONs
1) This is a really BIG problem - Even though I had an active credit card on file, they shut down my number twice without any notification. It had something to do with their billing system. But at any time they could have charged my credit card for the money they needed. I told them this and they said it can only charge my card once a month. I don't know about you other business owners, but shutting down my number without warning creates massive problems.
2) Have to press *3 for recordings of outgoing calls.
3) Web interface is horrible, it works, but its completely rediculous how bad it is. Also, if you enter in some data in a way that it doesn't like, your whole line won't work. Whenever I call them, I always ask "When are you guys going to fix your ghetto web interface" they always know what I'm talking about.
